“People who brag about a gift never given are like clouds and wind that produce no rain.” ~ Proverbs 25:14 CEB
The magician on America’s Got Talent went poof! and was gone, nowhere to be seen…just gone. I’m not smart enough to figure out how it was done, but I know one thing…what looked as a given to be real, wasn’t really.
Real gifts given are cherished, meant to do good, gladly given and sometimes (usually?) a sacrifice willingly undertaken for the positive change it can bring to a few or to many. The writer of this verse in Proverbs knew well that a gift never given was poof! positive that the giver didn’t care. How thankful I am to have known so many saints in our church who cared deeply about their faith and their church; cared enough to trust that a gift would do good in ways creating the change that makes a difference for our church, our community and beyond.
Prayer
Papa God, thank you for trusting that together as a community of faith that a gift given shows we care enough to honor your mission and vision for Lakeside United Methodist Church.
