Bruce
Lake was born and raised in Kewanee, Illinois, a small town in
North Central Illinois. Bruce married his child-hood sweetheart,
Dorothy Ann Mulholland in 1954. He received a B. A. degree from
Wheaton College, a M. Div. from North Park Theological Seminary
in Chicago, and a D. Ministry from Wesley Theological Seminary
in Washington, D.C. Bruce was ordained to the Christian Ministry
in 1961 by the Evangelical Covenant church, a small denomination
similar in history and theology to the United Methodist Church.
He has served as pastor to churches in Plainfield, NJ, Cadillac,
MI, Springfield, VA, and Joliet, IL, retiring in 1996. He then
served as the interim pastor at Harbert, MI for a year. In 1997
the Lakes moved to Richmond, VA. Bruce has served as minister of
visitation at Lakeside UMC from 1999 to the present. The Lakes
have three daughters, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
